Founded in 1951, the Wonthaggi Clay Target Club has been a cornerstone of the Bass Coast community for over 70 years, offering a place where sport, camaraderie, and community come together. Nestled on 20 acres of beautiful countryside, the club provides a perfect backdrop for both seasoned shooters and those new to clay target shooting, offering an experience that is as thrilling as it is welcoming.

One of the things we are most proud of is our reputation as a friendly, family-oriented club. We believe clay target shooting should be fun and accessible to everyone, regardless of skill level. Regular Competitions and Events

At the heart of our club’s calendar is our monthly competition, held on the first Saturday of every month. These events are more than just a chance to compete—they’re an opportunity to come together with fellow enthusiasts, share tips, swap stories, and enjoy the sport we all love. The atmosphere at these competitions is both competitive and friendly, making them a great way to improve your skills and meet new people.

In addition to our regular competitions, we also offer Come and Try Days, where newcomers to clay target shooting are invited to experience the thrill of the sport in a safe and supportive environment. These sessions are perfect for individuals, families, or groups of friends who want to try something new and exciting. We also provide Safety Courses to ensure that everyone can participate safely and with confidence, regardless of their level of experience.

A Vision for the Future

While we cherish our rich history, we’re also looking ahead to the future. Our members and committee have been working tirelessly to enhance the club’s facilities and ensure we can offer the best possible experience for everyone who walks through our doors. One exciting development is our plan for a brand-new clubhouse.
This modern facility will provide enhanced amenities, more space for socialising, and a comfortable place for members and guests to relax between shoots.

We are currently in the process of securing final approval from the Bass Coast Council, and we are optimistic that this new clubhouse will become a reality in the near future. Once completed, it will serve as a hub for both competitive events and social gatherings, further enriching the sense of community that defines Wonthaggi Clay Target Club.
